Hails, and welcome to the Clan Blackstar! My name is Rayar Blackstar, I am this Clans Khanness and mother. You have already met me on the beginning of these pages.
I am here now to get you settled in, into the Clans guidelines and structures in detail.
I will do this in a few separate chapters. Those being:
Essentially, we are a Family, a clan of people who enjoy each others company. We help each other to the best of our abilities and knowledge.
The Clan Blackstar is not a player v player guild, we spend our time hunting monsters, doing treasure hunts, running events, and generally having fun.
We expect all members to participate in as many of the clans' meetings, hunts and events/quests as their time allows. The more we do together, the tighter our bonds will be, and if you don't join in, well why would you want to be a part of the clan ? *smile*.
Also: We have boards, please use them. These serve as the main communication centre for Blackstar, and if you post only to wish us all a happy day or tell us you made your drivers licence, whatever it is, share it with us :)
Like most organisations, we do have rules by which we govern the clan, and although most of these should be common sense, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with them, as breaking the rules can lead to much ill feeling. The rules can be found {put link here}
There are basics of what we do not want to see in the Clan, it is mostly common sense and shouldn't need to be spelled out. But, just to be on the safe side: Go back and have a look at how we conduct punishment.
If you have any questions, you can ask on our boards, or contact us
via eMail , ICQ, the boards or on IRC.

The Recruitment itself is not a real problem. We ask you to send us the application form (to be found in the Khans office or through the JOIN section (see button on the left) which is only for pure informational reasons. We will not decide if we wish to have you by your rank or skill. We're just curious. Can you blame us? *smiles*
After that Either the Khan, SaKhan, General or Sage will contact you. Should you have decided to join us because you know a brother or sister from the Clan itself, please be sure to tell us this in the form.
Also: If a member brings forward a new Candidate that isn't really a problem. As long as they have a Tutor, it will be quite all right :] The Tutor is there to help the new member get settled in basically. So all Candidates are asked to choose one. But even from Initiates brought forward by a B* member we ask for the application (for our Khans' paperwork). Also I'd like to point you to the Initiates Manual of Clan Blackstar (also located in the Sages' Office). It holds all what we ask of any new member coming into the Clan.
Please understand that we check you before we fully accept you into the Clan. We started out as a group of very close friends, we wish to stay that: A Family, a group of close friends.

The Clans Colors have always been a green and "true" black in combination. In older days B* not only had a colour codex, but also a uniform. The old uniform would dictate the what clothing one was allowed to wear and in which colour it had to be. When Blackstar was re-founded over a year ago, the uniform was removed as a must. We did away with strict uniform codex but added a colour codex. This codex states the following:
Any Blackstar member is required to wear the colors black and green. NOTHING ELSE. This includes armour unless it is covered by a black or green robe. If armour is worn, it should be shadow iron, shadow-dyed or green-dyed leather armour in an approximation of the clan's green. (Our tailors provide this.)
We wear a cape in B* green (NOT black). The rest of your clothing may be any mix of B* green and black you wish.
Allow me to go into detail of the colour codex now.
Green.
One of the two colours that make up EVERYONES uniform. The colour has undergone a change from the Atlantic hue which was a bit darker to the one we wear these days. It's hue can be found on the picture next to this text.
Black
The other of the two colours that the Clan MUST wear. It is a core part of the Clan's makeup and as such is a must. This is not a usual dye, as it is a special dye tub. This is the so-called "true black", gathered by dye tubs that were handed out as a gift to players.
There are two colours the Clan wears which are exceptional and are handed out to outstanding Clansmen. These are:
Bronze (Tan)
The Cavalry may wear an additional colour, which is bronze. They have to add bronze to their black and green in some way, BUT must combine ALL THREE COLOURS shown into their outfit. The Cavalry is allowed to either wear bronze cloth (dye tubs are on the Clan's Towers' roof); bronze armour or dryed bronze leather armour. ONLY Cavalry may wear this colour. To join the cavalry, contact the General.
Crimson
With the moving on and evolving of the Clan, the idea to bring back an old rank in a new dress was born. We brought aboard the BloodAngels of Clan Blackstar. In this Clan, being a BloodAngel may follow up being a Cavalry Rider.
They have to add crimson to through outfit, BUT must combine ALL THREE COLOURS shown into it. The Angels are allowed to either wear crumson cloth (dye tubs are on the Clan's Towers' roof); red dragon scale armour or crimson red leather. ONLY Angels may wear this colour. To have a member join the BloodAngels is a procedure only the officers can decide on.
Gold
The gold cloth was an invention by Khan Rasputin Blackstar. It was a recognition of skill, both in-game and personality.
With this, the reward for outstanding skill abilities was dropped. As it is now, Elders and Keepers are allowed to still dorn a small piece of gold clothing (like sash, hats, shoes) to show their rank on first sight. Elders are defined as former members of the Atlantic Clan Blackstar. (Also see the Ranks section.)
If you are unsure about your colors, please come to one of the officers, they will help you with the choices to make :]
Clan Blackstar has a lot of ranks and officers. Don't let that scare you away. They are all very logically based and we have tried to keep the jungle of ranks as small as possible. ;]
If you want to know more about the officers and thier duties, please have a
look at the Ranks section. There you can see how they
work and function.
Negative karma can come from various things. More than often, they are a result of a player doing not too commendable things. More than often, those things involve stealing/ looting/ killing. Blackstar does NOT IN ANY WAY accept this behaviour from a member. The punishments for any member found doing so are quite severe.
However some skills and actions do affect your karma in a bad way as well. One of the most common ones is poisoning, which will give you an immense drop. We do not discourage these skills, however a way to keep track of the doings was needed. Because of this, all members of Blackstar are required to toggle on their shown skill and murder counts in "My UO". Should they not have this turned on so we can keep track of the behaviour of the Clansman, the Officers may decide to remove the member!
All about the ceremonies can be found in the Khan's office.
All in all: Don't be scared to ask. We have a board, we have eMail contacts, so please feel free to approach us.
I look forward to see you soon!
